I live in central Oklahoma, and I've got a spot on my place that has always made me curious. It acts like a tiny pond when its wet, holding water via a little berm. Its almost round, and doesn't look like a natural feature. Yet, I can't imagine any human creating this for any purpose.
Recently a neighbor mentioned to me that there is an old buffalo wallow on someone's property a couple miles east of here. Now, it kind of makes sense to me. I've seen photos on the internet of wallows that look almost identical to this. Anyone familiar with these?
There were certainly plenty of buffalo in these parts in the old days. I am attempting to upload a pic, hopefully this works.
