This is my first time doing it and I don't know if I should be doing any thig else or doing anything differently.
I assume you are either having your veterinarian do the procedures or under his guidance?

It has been a long time since I did AI with cattle, I believe this was the procedure: CIDR inserted, give shot, remove CIDR after one week inserted, give second shot same day, and breed with semen.
Other than that, I know you have to be VERY careful with the drugs, tips of CIDRs, and the semen. DO NOT touch anything unless your vet gives the ok, as these items have everything to do with breeding, hormones, and specialized drugs for AI and can mess with your health.

Also, it is like clockwork. Work a tight schedule.
When we did AI for the first time by ourselves (under vet's guidance), we picked a bad time of the day and had to get up at 0230 to give the second shot dosage.

Got it. Good choice and good luck!!
