Calf Feeder

405 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ISquaredCattleCo
Does anyone have any calf feeder ideas that will keep mamas and my bull out of it?
I actually have one of the three sided panels that fasten to a creep feeder, but I don’t have the actual feeder.
I only have a handful of calves so I can’t really justify buying a big creep feeder. I appreciate any ideas or advice.

grain wise, headlocks, I have around 13 or so, some for the grown cows and then some that are the calf sized ones, for the calves I space them apart, so they each have one headlock between each other so they can’t get to each other’s grain.

Oh I just noticed you meant like feeding hay?
for mine, they all just share hay.. they all fight each other for the hay and probably some don’t get as much as others.. but it really doesn’t matter what I do the big adults or bigger calves will bully there way through to get hay lol.

(Also you could ask on Cattletoday, it’s a good forum with more people)

Make an opening where the calves can fit but the bigger ones are too small. That’s what we do as we have too many stocker feeders every year to individually halter and feed.
