Have 10 yr old Longhorn cow that just had a bull calf that might weigh 20lbs. It must have sucked just after birth, but maybe only once in the next 12 hours. She has always had great calves, when bred to a angus bull. This time bred to a proven longhorn bull. However, this bull when bred to my 2 longhorn cows produced another rather small calf, and this small calf. I am debating whether to try bottle supplement, as the cow may leave the calf. Cannot put her in pen with calf as she will jump out to go back to herd. First time with calf problems with this cow.
