Anyone good with breed markers? We bought a herd of shorthorn and two "runt" bull calves. Almost a year later I'm beginning to doubt whether they are indeed shorthorns and may not even be runts just a smaller breed. The person I bought them from said they were shorthorn and some are just different colors but in all I've seen online I've never seen any shorthorns that are the color of the young bulls. They are always a cinnamon color whereas these bulls are more orange. One person said they looked like guernseys. The person I bought from didn't seem dishonest but maybe there was a mixup in AI order? Center is one young bull surrounded by our other shorthorns. Thoughts? I would think he's a Guernsey maybe a mini Guernsey?
It looks like you have 3 Holsteins 1 long horn cross a Guernsey cross and I think the red one in the back is a shorthorn but I can't see it's face so I am only guessing.
This is was my registered shorthorn bull at 2 1/2 years old
